History

In the year 1954 Fábricas Lusitana factories launched their brands "Branca de Neve" and "Espiga".

The founder, Antonio Trigueiros de Aragão, born in 1894, in Alcains, did most of his studies in England, the country that nurtered his spirit of initiative and entrepreneurship.

The place chosen for his industries was Alcains village, in Castelo Branco, Portugal. It was in this factory that the first package of Branca de Neve Fina was produced. The sachet was glued manually and the filling was also fully manual. It was also in this factory, in 1954, that the first Espiga flour and Branca de Neve Flôr were produced.

The pioneering spirit of Antonio Trigueiros de Aragão was also expressed in the way the brands communicated and promoted their products to the consumer.
Branca de Neve flour was one of the first domestic product to be advertised in the audiovisual media existing at the time.
The first advertising spot of the brand, dated 1958, was exhibited in all the country's cinemas and had starring Laura Alves actress who at the time had a blockbuster theatre play "Criada para todo o Serviço" which was in exhibition at the Monumental Theatre, and it was also sponsored by Branca de Neve.

Apart from Laura Alves, Branca de Neve and Espiga were also promoted by other well known artists and cherished by the public: Herman José, Helena Isabel, Marco Paulo, Cândida Branca Flor, Maria Manuela and Carlos Paião, all became .

Branca de Neve brand pioneered the actions of "sampling" in Portugal. At the end of the theatre play sessions "Criada para todo o Serviço" the brand offered the ladies a pack of 500g Branca de Neve flour.

Today the company continues to make history with the launch of innovative products for the Portuguese market.
